The Louisiana Judicial College
The Louisiana Judicial College is committed to providing quality and relevant continuing legal education for the Louisiana Judicial community, and we dedicate ourselves to the service of the judicial profession through the constant pursuit and impartation of knowledge and wisdom in the law.
The Louisiana Judicial College is charged with providing quality continuing legal education for Louisiana’s judges. Continuing legal education courses focus on new law, ethics and cutting-edge issues. As lawyers, judges are required to attend a minimum of 12.5 hours of continued legal education every year — one hour of which must be on legal ethics, and one hour on professional responsibility. According to Louisiana Supreme Court Rule XXX, Part H, Rule 3(f), effective January 1, 2013, of those 12.5 hours, judges must obtain five (5) from a Louisiana Judicial College Seminar.
